Mediation of Divorce, Separation,
Child Support & Custody
VA, MD, DC Metro Areas
Family
law and family relationship disputes typically make up over 70% of the cases we handle. As experienced, certified family
mediators, we guide people through the process of developing divorce settlement agreements and separation agreements, including
all aspects of child custody, support and parenting, as well as property division and spousal support. We also deal
with post divorce custody, parenting and support issues. If parties do not reach resolution, parties can choose to have
us resolve them through arbitration, rather than reverting to litigation. Either process can avoid expensive attorney
fees and the lengthy process of litigation in court.
While resolving the substantive issues is a significant goal
in the mediation process, addressing the relationship aspects is also very important, especially where there are children
involved and continuing parental interaction will exist. Our hope is that as part of the process, in addition to resolving
the substantive matters, the participants would also leave with better communication and conflict resolution skills and without
bitterness between them.
Although we have family mediators certified through the Judicial Council of the Virginia Supreme
Court, we can work on divorce, separation, custody, support, and other family law matters with parties from any
jurisdiction, in the Washington, DC Metro area, including Virginia, Maryland, or beyond. While located in downtown Fairfax
City, we have served clients throughout the area.
Please call us with any questions or to arrange an initial
consultation. We can evaluate your situation and recommend a specific approach that best suits the nature of the conflict
and all parties' needs and beliefs. The parties then decide for themselves how they wish to proceed.
We
do not provide legal advice. If you want legal advice on issues involved in your dispute you should consult an attorney. When
legal issues are involved in your dispute, the mediator can provide legal information, such as applicable laws concerning
the matters at issue and how courts generally apply them.
